STEEL SEISMIC SOLUTIONS

Tectonus devices are used by engineers to design cost-effective structures that are lighter weight and yet highly resilient to earthquakes. The technology is commonly applied as diagonal steel braces and cross braces; it can also be used as toggle braces, in the base of steel columns, and in MRFs.

DEMONSTRATED OUTCOMES In a top floor office building extension using tension-only braces in Auckland, New Zealand.
3.0 Ductility Achieved
1.55% Design Drift
1.35 Overstrength Factor
<$50K Brace system cost

Steel Applications

The most common application is in tension-compression braces and tension-only cross braces.  Applied in new and retrofit buildings, the devices are extremely flexible and scalable from 50 to 5,000kN (10 to 1125kips).
